Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for two Music Business full-time, tenure-track faculty positions (#145020 and #145130) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the positions is August 1, 2024.

The successful candidates will teach courses in various areas of the music business, including Survey of the Recording Industry, Concert Promotion and Touring, Record Label Operations, Digital Strategies, Branding, Artist Management, Venue Management, Marketing, History of the Recording Industry, Intellectual Property Law and other specialized popular music topics (i.e. Hip Hop History and Culture, History of Country Music). A demonstrated ability to work as part of a team to accomplish group goals, documented excellence in teaching, research or creative activities, and university service is expected.

Required Education

A terminal degree in recording industry or a closely related field is required by the appointment date. A master’s degree in recording industry or a closely related field with five (5) years of industry experience will be considered in lieu of a terminal degree.
